The big move has happened…
Definitive Events has a new home that hopefully you would’ve all read about in our March newsletter or in the industry press. The companies (13 years) experience in event management and logistics meant that the move, scheduled for 1x day (29th February – 1st March) went as smoothly as possible and the office was back up and running in next to no time!
End of February saw Events Manager – Rosie Tams, attend an 8x day educational FAM trip to South Africa – hosted by Meetings Africa. The group flew to Port Elizabeth for an overnight stay, before making their way to Shamwari Game Reserve for a 3 day Safari where they were promised a look at the “big five” ….and it didn’t disappoint!
The following 4 days were spent in Johannesburg, staying at the 5* Westcliff Hotel. Whilst there, Meetings Africa hosted an exhibition that allowed the group to meet with key suppliers, DMC’s and venues that all have potential to be used for future client events.
On the first day in Johannesburg the group were taken to the renowned township of Soweto and to an area called Kliptown. Kliptown is a poverty stricken residential area, this was an emotional trip and quite a pivotal and inspiring part of the visit. They met with local families and had the opportunity to spend time with children of the area. Rosie said it was one of the most memorable experiences of any trip, the children live in a neighbourhood that has high crime and poverty levels yet they all shine bright smiles that fill your heart with joy. Anybody who visits Joberg, must visit Kliptown.
The group also enjoyed a visit to the Sky Educational Centre where they were greeted by traditional music performed by singing children who attend the centre.
Other activities during the trip included visits to a number of dinner venues including a trip to Moyo at Melrose Arch Restaurant, where they were treated to an authentic tribal feast!
Overall the trip was a major success, both on a personal and professional level and a destination that Definitive Events would definitely recommend for future client Incentive programmes.
