			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Cliveden House is set to be refurbished after Chewton Glen owners Ian  and Richard Livingstone acquired the rights to operate the Berkshire  hotel for an estimated £30m.</p>
<p>The five-star luxury hotel, owned by the National Trust, was formerly operated by <a href="http://citmagazine.com/news/1073421/Christie---Co-appointed-sell-Von-Essen-Hotels-portfolio/?DCMP=ILC-SEARCH" target="_blank">collapsed hotel chain Von Essen</a>, which reportedly went into administration last year owing Lloyds and Barclays £300m.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: x-small;">Sports footwear company New Balance is set to take over Altitude 360 – the private events space at the top of the Millbank Tower – for the whole of this year’s Olympic Games.</p>
<p>The venue has been secured for the company’s corporate entertaining via Manchester-based event management company Definitive Events, which will be managing New Balance’s entire programme for the Games.</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Leading venues in the  north-west today called for the government to bring forward plans for  the second phase of the HS2 rail link.</p>
<p></strong></p>
<p>Plans were approved yesterday <a href="http://www.eventmagazine.co.uk/news/1111221/HS2-stop-NEC/" target="_blank">to build the rail line between London and Birmingham by 2026, possibly including a stop at the NEC.</a></p>
<p>A proposed second phase in 2032/33 would extend HS2 to Manchester and  Leeds, with high-speed trains also running to just outside Liverpool.</p>

<p>The Manchester-based agency, which has a client base including New  Balance and Indesit, has appointed Nina Callaghan as event manager.  Callaghan joins from Universal World Events, where she spent three and a  had years as account manager.</p>
<p>She will work on a variety of accounts and events across both Events and Sport divisions.</p>
<p>Definitive  has made a number of appointments over the past year, expanding its  team from two to five since the beginning of 2011.</p>
